Method and caveats

The Index combines five measurements for each city: green space per inhabitant, how hot its hottest districts get, and three air pollutants (PM2.5, PM10, NO2). A city is placed from first to last on each measurement and those places are averaged, with green space counted twice. Lower is better.

Heat is land surface temperature, not air temperature. Air quality values are model estimates. Green area is vegetation extent detected by satellite, not tree height.
